Captain Dipendra Singh Airee’s all-round performance helped Sudurpashchim Royals to defeat Karnali Yaks by 45 runs in Monday’s second match of the Nepal Premier League 2025. In a low-scoring contest, Dipendra contributed 39 runs and delivered an excellent bowling spell, taking 4 wickets to secure Sudurpashchim’s victory. Chasing a target of 140 runs, Karnali were all out for 94 in 19.2 overs — the lowest total by any team in the ongoing league so far.
Karnali, who had been relying on their foreign batters in the last two matches, failed to make a good start while facing what seemed a modest target. However, in this match, all four foreign batters in the top four positions were dismissed consecutively. Sudurpashchim’s bowlers restricted Karnali to 33 runs in the first powerplay for the loss of early wickets.
Priyank Panchal was dismissed for a duck by Dipendra. Dipendra then picked a big wicket again, trapping Mark Watt — who had scored a century against Lumbini — LBW for 17. At that stage, Karnali had made only 21 runs. Soon after, William Basisto (3 runs) was dismissed by Hemant Dhami, and Najibullah Zadran fell for 1 run to Dipendra. After that, Sompal Kami joined Pawan Sarraf at the crease. By the end of 10 overs, Karnali had reached 60, needing 80 more runs to win.
