Nepal defeated West Indies as they claim first win over a Test nation

In the opening Twenty20 International of the three-match series, Nepal took a 1-0 lead over the West Indies on Saturday, defeating them by 19 runs. This is Nepal’s first-ever triumph over a Test country.  Nepal lost the toss and had to bat first, scoring 148 for eight in their 20 overs. With 38 runs off 35 balls, captain Rohit Paudel led the way, followed by Gulsan Jha with 22 and Kushal Malla with 30 from 21.

Even though they got out to a rough start (12 for 2), the middle order kept the innings going. The star of the West Indies attack, Jason Holder, finished with four wickets for 20, while Navin Bidaisee, who was making his debut, got three for 29.

West Indies, who were chasing 149, unable to keep up with Nepal’s disciplined bowling and astute fielding, ultimately settling for 129 for nine.
In four overs, Kushal Bhurtel claimed two wickets for seventeen, while Lalit Rajbanshi, Paudel, Dipendra Singh Airee, Karan KC, and Nandan Yadav each took one wicket. Nepal’s two pivotal run-outs demonstrated how effective their fielding was as well.

Paudel was selected Player of the Match for his all-around performance, which included taking out Jewel Andrew.

Nepal defeated the West Indies in their maiden Twenty20 International match, and they did so with discipline against a team that is renowned for its power hitting. Nepal will try to win the series, while the West Indies will try to tie it in the second Twenty20 International between the two sides on Monday in Sharjah.
